2024

What a year.

At the start of 2024, I had no idea what variety of jobs I would have completed in the next 12 months.

The first job was making some storage boxes for a kitchen from barrel staves, then replacing floor boards after rewire. A conversation with a software engineer led to a commission to make models of a church in Norfolk and in among a couple of gates made and fitted.

A big holiday took up most of June then back home for a very successful Bonsall Arts Trail where I had lots of support from neighbours, placing orders and praising my work.

Beyond the arts trail and 2025

Orders from the arts trail kept me busy for much of July. I then made a cover for some pond workings, a house name board, a knife block and several cabinets for my daughter to fit in alcoves in her home.

A visit to Cromford Mill Cheese shop led to an order for more boards and my first retail outlet (Thanks Jess). A gent from the village asked me to make two boards from timber which had come from his grand parents sideboard, lovely quarter sawn oak and beech from the shelves.

I  am currently working on a  rocking chair, the client wanting his daughters name carving on the back. I was petrified of spoiling the chair so have come up with an alternative idea and hope to deliver it to the client in the new year.

2025 is looking promising. I have some work to do with the cheese shop and am working on bread boards for Jess to sell in her flour shop at Rowsley. A bar to make for my son , a couple of gates for a friend and an exhibition at the Derbyshire makers outlet at Peak village over the May bank holiday.

All it remains for me to do is to thank everyone for their support and to wish all friends and customers a happy Christmas and a successful new year
